The RAF BOD decided at the last meeting to pursue the purchase of a 4WD mower for easing the maintenance burden and also assisting in getting gliders to the top of Padgham hill.
The cost of this machine new would be approximately $25,000 - $30,000 but after watching the used market we feel we can find a good machine for around $10,000.
It is an articulated 20-30hp gas/diesel hydraulic powered 4WD machine capable of mowing 30+ degree slopes with the addition of dual wheels. It is capable of mowing any of the slopes on the hill and pulling a glider up all except possibly the east side.
The club cannot afford a new machine so the vote would be for allocating the funds up to $10,000 to purchase a used machine.
